3. LSU vs Auburn – Under 45 points

Both the LSU Tigers and the Auburn Tigers have already faced big tests this season. The former went up against the Miami Hurricanes as underdogs in the first week of the season and made a statement as they made Malik Rosier look like a high school quarterback — and not a good one at that. As for Auburn, their Week 1 win over the Washington Huskies wasn’t quite as impressive, but they still controlled the game to get a win over a ranked team.

Now these two teams will face off in a matchup where Auburn is surely looking for revenge for last year. LSU scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to take the lead in the matchup last season, but gave quarterback Jarrett Stidham enough time to try and lead Auburn back. Instead, LSU’s defense made him look completely lost and sealed the big win.

For once, this LSU offense looks like it has some firepower to it with Joe Burrow at quarterback and Nick Brossette at running back. The same can be said for Stidham and Auburn as, at their best, they can also put a big number up on the scoreboard.

While that narrative may focus on the offense, the story of this game is going to be defense. This game has “war of attrition” written all over it to me. Both of these defenses are elite and, despite the potential of the offenses, that’s what’s going to rule this big SEC contest. Take the under and run with it.
