10. Troy  Trojans (Sun Belt Conference) 1 – 1

We still don’t know too much about Troy. They were dominated by Boise State 56-20 in Week 1. They responded as they should, with a runaway 59-7 victory over Florida A&M in Week 2.

They were helped by four FAMU turnovers. One was an interception returned 53 yards for a touchdown by linebacker Tron Folsom. The others gave the Trojans short fields that resulted in touchdown drives of 53, 33 and 30 yards to take a 38-7 halftime lead.

Troy has another test this weekend, and they’ll need to pass to stay on this list.

Up next: Saturday at Nebraska

9. North Texas Mean Green (Conference-USA) 2-0

The Mean Green have an explosive offense that has led them to two blowout victories so far. The first was a 46-23 win over SMU, followed by a 58-16 beatdown of FCS-level Incarnate Word. Junior quarterback Mason Fine leads the nation in passing yards per game, with 862 yards in his first two games.

Fine has two favorite targets in wide receivers Rico Bussey, Jr. and Jalen Guyton. Both receivers have more than 200 receiving yards after two games. Both have good size, Bussey is 6-foot-2 and Guyton is 6-foot-1

They have their biggest test of the season this weekend as they face an SEC opponent on the road.

Up next: Saturday at Arkansas.
