2. UCF Knights (AAC) 2 – 0

The Knights and Broncos are the clear top two teams in the rankings. The Knights fall to second this week. UCF didn’t falter in any way, as they defeated South Carolina State 38-0 in Week 2. But the battle between the two is close enough that I have to pick nits, and SCSU is an FCS team, while Boise State has two wins again FBS teams.

The voters have Boise State slightly ahead as well, as they are 17th and UCF is 18th. It will be interesting to see how the battle plays out over the course of the season.

The Knights will be off this weekend due to Hurricane Florence. They were scheduled to travel to Chapel Hill to play North Carolina, but the game has already been cancelled.

Up next: Sept. 21 versus Florida Atlantic.

1. Boise State (MWC) 2 – 0

The boys in blue take the top spot with a second straight blowout victory. The Broncos were rude hosts in Week 2, dominating the UConn Huskies 62-7.

Brett Rypien threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns. Alexander Mattison led the team on the ground with 115 yards and two scores. John Hightower hit the century mark through the air, catching five passes for 119 yards and a touchdown.

Boise State hits the road for one of college football’s biggest matchups in Week 3.

Up next: Saturday at Oklahoma State.
