College Football picks against the spread September 13, 2018

Hurricane Florence is wreaking havoc in the college football world, forcing two games back to Thursday before Florence batters the Carolinas. Florence already forced the cancellation of the West Virginia-NC State game and the North Carolina-UCF game, but none of the schools seemed all that crazy about getting them in. This picking does seem very trivial when faced with the potential of such a massive storm.

However, I still pick every game against the spread. I’m hoping for the best along the Carolina coast come the weekend, and looking forward to a couple of good Thursday games along with the one scheduled Friday game.

I haven’t completely finished with last weekend’s games yet, so my picks from last week haven’t all been tallied yet. That article will be up soon, but first, the picks for the three games before our football Saturday!

For those of you that are new to this, I pick every college football game every week. Not a top five. Not a top ten. All of them. Big deal, right? Lots of people make picks. Well, I do them all against the spread! I take the odds of each game and average them out at all the Vegas casinos and round to the nearest half. There will be no ties here. Ties are for the other football.

I also assign a point value based on the confidence I have in each pick. 1 means that I have little to no confidence. 5 is one I would place a decent wager on. I keep track of my record and my points back from year to year. I went 400-75 last season and ended up with 31 points in my point bank. I am aiming for 55% this year. It’s harder than it looks!

This is for entertainment purposes only! I cannot be responsible for the loss of money, possessions, spouses, or limbs because of my picks. I can’t have that on my conscious.

Without further delay, here are the early picks for week 3!

Boston College(-4.5) at Wake Forest(3): BC’s defense has looked pretty good so far, but I’m thoroughly impressed by Sam Hartman so far. Of course, with a receiver like Greg Dortch out there, he can make it look easy. The Eagles are the toughest test for Wake so far, but I still like the Deacons straight up at home.

Old Dominion(-1.5) at Charlotte(4): Huh? If the Monarchs can hang with a decent FIU team, they should be good for double digits against a Charlotte team that got blown off the field by Appalachian State. This line shouldn’t be falling. ODU by double digits.

Georgia State at Memphis(-27.5)(1): This is a tough road game for the Panthers, but I’m not entirely sure that the Memphis offense can cover this. Their run game has been the best part of the offense so far. If they run with Henderson most of the game, I doubt they cover. I’ll take Georgia State with no confidence whatsoever. In other words, don’t bet this. I would take the under on 58 at feel more comforable than betting this spread.
