DraftKings MLB September 13 Main Slate: 3 Pitchers To Use
By Bill Pivetz
With just six games on the DraftKings MLB main slate, the starting pitching group is small. But there are some worth using.
All but 12 teams are playing on September 13. This leads to a small DraftKings MLB slate of games to pick players from for the DraftKings main slate. If you make the right decision, you could win some big bucks. The starting pitchers are the hardest to pick from for these games but there are three that are worth using.
The six games to pick players from are OAK/BAL, TOR/BOS, LAD/STL, MIN/KC, SEA/LAA and MIA/NYM. On the surface, these are some rough matchups but if you stack against one or two teams, you’ll benefit in the end.
Sandy Alcantara, MIA
You could easily go with Steven Matz against the Miami Marlins, but Alcantara is more likely to get the win. He scored 27.6 points in his last start against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Mets are hitting well so far this month, .262 with 56 runs scored over 10 games. That is inflated by the 13-0 win over the Marlins the night before. Alcantara is priced at $7,200, 14.4 percent of your budget.
Brett Anderson, OAK
Anderson will make his first start coming off the DL against the Baltimore Orioles, one of the worst offenses in the league. In his last full start, Anderson scored 30.6 points as he pitched seven shutout innings and struck out six against the Texas Rangers.
The Orioles sat Adam Jones over the weekend, giving their younger players a chance to play. With little star power in the lineup, Anderson is likely to pitch another strong game. He comes in at $6,600, 13.2 percent of your total budget.
Eduardo Rodriguez, BOS
The Boston Red Sox are the first team to reach 100 wins this season. They look to add more wins with Rodriguez on the mound. The Toronto Blue Jays are hitting .239 this month with 43 runs scored.
Rodriguez scored 0.1 points in his last game but he lasted just 3.1 innings. He scored 36.4 points in the start before that against the Chicago White Sox. Rodriguez scored 20 points in his four previous starts (I’m rounding up his 19.6 points).
At $9,600, 19.2 percent of your $50,000 budget, Rodriguez is a bit of a risk. However, the Blue Jays offense may help Rodriguez.
I avoided listing Clayton Kershaw because he is an obvious pick. I don’t care what team he faces, he’s worth the price. The other three are good complimentary pitchers that are difference makers for a small slate of games.
