Impactful NFL DFS Injuries: Week 2
With extensive coverage of the National Football League and how it pertains to fantasy sports, information about injuries to skill position players is easy to come by. What’s not so easy to come by is actionable fantasy information regarding injuries to non-skill position players. We’ll be exploring some of the NFL DFS Injuries and how they may help you gain an edge week to week.
Deion Jones and Keanu Neal – Atlanta
As if things couldn’t get any worse for Atlanta, after learning that they would be without Keanu Neal for the rest of the season, they then found out that they will also be without Deion Jones. Neal was placed on the IR after tearing his ACL in the season opener against the Eagles. It was then reported that Jones would also be placed on the IR with a foot injury.
Actionable Takeaway: This is a huge loss for the defense in general, but even more so, as their defense scheme relies on athletic linebackers and safeties to cover opposing running backs. Atlanta was notorious for bleeding fantasy production to opposing running backs and now things could get even worse. Look for Christian McCaffrey to have a huge day this Sunday.

Daryl Williams – T – Carolina
On the flip side of that same game, an already battered offensive line will lose another piece, as Daryl Williams has been placed on the IR with a knee injury. He suffered knee cap and MCL issues in the offseason and appeared to reinjure that same knee last week.
Actionable Takeaway: Christian McCaffrey is still very much in play given his role as a pass catcher, but things wont get easier when it comes to running between the tackles. Going forward, if opposing defenses excel in defending against pass catching running backs, it may be a week to fade CMC.
Seantrel Henderson – T – Texans
The Texans struggling offensive line will have to now look elsewhere for relief, as they will be without tackle Seantrel Henderson. Henderson was diagnosed with a broken ankle and is likely out for the season. Henderson currently has a PFF grade of 72.1, so it will be a massive drop-off for whoever replaces him.
Actionable Takeaway: Houston will have a decent matchup against a Tennessee defense who was dominated by opposing passing attacks last season. However, with how Desean Watson looked last week and with the loss of Henderson, there are major red flags in what could be an explosive offense.
Vernon Hargreaves – CB – Tampa Bay
The Bucs will look to continue their success from week one, but will be without starting corner Vernon Hargreaves. Hargreaves was placed on the IR after suffering a torn labrum in his shoulder.
Actionable Takeaway: Hargreaves was Tampa Bay’s top slot corner, and they’ll now face the defending Super Bowl champions on Sunday. While the Philadelphia offense looked stagnant on Thursday night, Nelson Agholor was one of the few standouts. He’ll now have an interesting matchup, as he’ll be facing a backup when he runs from the slot.
