2. Profit with Tom Brady
New England’s trip to Jacksonville is definitely one of the marquee matchups of the weekend. It’s a game that will pit Tom Brady versus Blake Bortles in the quarterback battle. We’re not sure you need to read any further to understand why we’re suggesting you take the Patriots -2.
That doesn’t mean the Jaguars aren’t going to give Bill Belichick and company fits. Their physical defense will be enough to give the New England offense difficulty. Don’t be surprised to see the lack of established talent at wide receiver show up in this one. Jalen Ramsey can shut down anyone the Patriots trot out there.
The trouble for the Jaguars is that they won’t be able to move the ball against this improved Patriots defense. Bortles will continue to be the weak link for this team. The fact that Leonard Fournette might not be 100% plays into our thinking here too. Expect Fournette to give it a go, but if he’s anything less than 100% his presence on the field will fall right into Belichick’s hands.
It’s easy to imagine this game coming down to a crucial fourth quarter drive for either time. We like Brady’s chances to come through when it counts. We hate the idea of Bortles engineering a game winning drive just as much. That’s why taking the Patriots is the prudent play. Brady makes the difference between two evenly matched teams.
