4. Chelsea held by resilient Cardiff

One game that looks pretty easy to call this weekend is Cardiff’s visit to Chelsea. Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea are joint top of the league while Neil Warnock’s Cardiff have just two points and only managed to score their first Premier League goals in matchweek 4.

Cardiff are favorites to go down and that’s understandable considering the limited additions they made to their squad this summer. The Bluebirds showed a lot of fight against Arsenal, though, and were a bit unlucky to lose that match.

If it hadn’t been for a brilliant performance from Alexandre Lacazette, then Warnock’s side might have taken something from the game. Although they lost, they’ll know that that kind of offensive performance will get them points in this league.

If Cardiff can combine their defensive stability with this greater attacking intent, they might just be fine in this league. However, games against the likes of Chelsea are almost bonus matches, especially away from home.

Warnock has already said that his side aren’t going to sit back on Saturday which means they could be in for a rough ride if Eden Hazard and co. are on form. The Blues have clicked early on but Sarri will know that he can get this team playing at a higher level than they already are.

Chelsea have looked good but not totally convincing in their opening matches. They were fortunate to beat Newcastle despite dominating the game and they took their time to break down Bournemouth in matchweek 4.

The Blues should be considered title contenders this season but this weekend they’ll have their first setback as they are held by a resilient and forward-thinking Cardiff side.
