Borussia Dortmund face Frankfurt at Signal Iduna Park on Friday, Sept. 14. Here’s all the info you need to watch online.
Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt kick off the third week of the Bundesliga season at Signal Iduna Park on Friday. After an impressive first game of the season, Dortmund were very disappointing in their second game. Frankfurt split their opening two games of the season.
In their last game before the international break, Dortmund were held to a scoreless draw by Hannover. Dortmund struggled to generate strong scoring chances against Hannover, one week after scoring four against RB Leipzig. Dortmund’s attack should be better on Friday as Christian Pulisic returns to the lineup after missing the previous game with the flu. Lucien Favre’s side signed Paco Alcacer on loan from Barcelona. While Alcacer struggled to get playing time during his tenure with Barcelona, he did score 13 goals in his last season with Valencia. The addition of Alcacer should allow Favre to play Marco Reus in his natural position on the wing.
Frankfurt lost 2-1 to Werder Bremen last weekend. Adi Hutter’s side were forced to play the final hour with 10 men after Jetro Willems was sent off. The club was able to bring Kevin Trapp back to the club on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. Trapp originally signed with PSG after playing three years with Frankfurt. Eintracht will need Trapp to play well if they are going to steal a point. Frankfurt’s defense will be without the injured Carlos Salcedo and Marco Russ.
Frankfurt’s attack will be lead by Sebastian Haller and Nicolai Muller. Haller has scored twice this season and will look to build on a successful first season with the club. Muller could turn into one of the best signings of the season. Frankfurt bought the 30-year-old winger on a free transfer from relegated Hamburg. Despite being a proven Bundesliga goal scorer, Muller is trying to escape the memory from the lone goal he scored last season. Muller scored 15 minutes into the opening game last season but tore his ACL celebrating, prematurely ending his season. This season, Muller also scored in the first game of the season but had a much tamer celebration.
