Week 3 of the college football season has arrived. Some coaches already on the hot seat have improved their position while others have worsened it. Here’s who needs a win this week.
It’s hard to believe that two weeks are already in the books for the 2018 college football season. Things are moving at a brisk pace thus far and that’s great for some coaches on the hot seat and not so well for others.
Heading into Week 3, some coaches are off to a comfortable start as they look to provide a turnaround for their programs. Others are off to a terrible start and need wins soon or all faith could soon be loss.
As the weeks go on, the time will come for the first coach on the hot seat to be fired. It’s not likely to happen this soon, but there are only so many nails in the coffin that a coach can take before the lid is shut. Here are five coaches that need a win in Week 3.
5. David Beaty – Kansas
For the first time since 2009, the Kansas Jayhawks won a game on the road. As long of an unprecedented drought as that was, it’s the first step for the program as they look to make progress toward getting out of the spot they’re in.
They also can’t just settle for one win either. After losing to Nicholls State in Week 1, it felt as if Kansas was doomed to lose every game on their schedule. Instead, they responded with a victory on the road over Central Michigan.
Back at home against Rutgers this week, David Beaty could really help his cause for keeping his job with a victory at home over Rutgers. Realistically, there aren’t many chances at a win left on the schedule and this is one of them.
If they can pick up a win over Rutgers, suddenly the Jayhawks have a winning record and things are certainly looking far different than what people have become accustomed to when it comes to football in Lawrence.
