Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines look to continue righting the ship on Saturday as they bring the SMU Mustangs into town in Week 3.

Everyone seemed to write off the Michigan Wolverines after the way that they performed in their season-opener. Admittedly, it’s hard not to considering that Jim Harbaugh and his team once again delivered a letdown performance against a top-tier team. However, they seemed to get into a rhythm finally last week in a win over Western Michigan. Now they look to keep it going against the SMU Mustangs on Saturday.

The (assumed) savior of the Wolverines offense, quarterback Shea Patterson, actually showed signs of life last week. He threw the ball well and, at long last, tossed a touchdown pass to a wide receiver. Meanwhile, star running back Karan Higdon continues to look like a stud as he ran wild over the Broncos last week. Then, of course, there’s the defense led by Rashan Gary that can hold up against anyone.

As for SMU, they haven’t enjoyed a great deal of success to start the 2018 season. In fact, quarterback Ben Hicks and the Mustangs are 0-2 to start the year with losses to North Texas in their opener and then TCU last week. Subsequently, it’s hard to believe that they have the talent throughout the roster to hang with the Wolverines.

Then again, just when you think you can count on Harbaugh and Michigan, they tend to deliver a head-scratching performance. So can you really rule anything out?

Prediction

In the win last week, we truly saw the Wolverines come into their own. Perhaps that was the level of competition more than anything, but it’s not like the Mustangs are going to offer much more of a hurdle for them to get over in Week 3.

Final Score: SMU 10, Michigan 38
