Why do you need another DFS site? Because DRAFT combines the excitement of a season-long draft into one set of games!  This article has some targets and pre-draft rankings all set for you to jump into some NFL DRAFT DFS action!

Welcome to the NFL week two edition of NFL DRAFT DFS, covering snake drafts on DRAFT.com from FantasyCPR. Every week for the NFL season, I will get my rankings set early in the week, and try to bring you this article with targets and my pre-draft rankings in plenty of time to hit the DRAFT lobby.

Every week, I will cover the main 15-game slate on DRAFT, omitting the Thursday game from this article. If you draft before Thursday night, there may be a few players not in the rankings to add to your rankings.

If you have read my DRAFT articles for PGA and MLB in the past, this set-up will be nearly identical in terms of breaking it down. I will first go over my targets at each position, and follow that up with rankings. Each target will be followed with their overall ranking. Rosters on DRAFT are 1-QB, 2-RB’s, and 2 WR/TE’s, so just five spots. Tournament size varies as far as how many participants are in each DRAFT, but this column will be geared towards the cash games. The most popular of these that I play are the $1 6-man’s and $5 10-man’s. Therefore, I will give my top 50 overall rankings after the targets, with 10 quarterbacks, 20 running backs, and 20 wide receivers. That should cover you for your 10-man contests!

NFL DRAFT DFS Week One Recap:

Typically what we will do here before we get to the targets, is give a brief overview of how my targets and teams fared from the previous week. It’s always important to figure out what mistakes were made should you come up short, so you can learn from them. I also believe it is important for writers like myself to show transparency when it comes to the players they recommend. These articles are free, and they reach a pretty decent size audience, if I am not almost 100% confident in somebody I likely will not write them up. With that said, these targets and rankings are going off what I have already drafted up to this point. They may change leading up to Sunday morning, and if anything major comes up, I will likely be updating on Twitter.

It was a weird week one for me to say the least. I did well pretty much everywhere besides DRAFT, where I mostly got my butt kicked. If you caught last week’s article and read until the end, you will remember I was high on Chris Hogan and Cam Newton, and said that they were the edge to winning this week. I completely whiffed on Hogan along with plenty of other experts. Newton on the other hand, was not as dismal, but was still in the middle of the pack as far as QB’s go. Despite the slight failure on the “Edge” for week one, it will be back for week 2, so make sure you read the end after the rankings!

NFL DRAFT DFS: QB Targets:

Philip Rivers – Los Angeles Chargers – (34)

Our first target for week two is Chargers signal caller Philip Rivers. Rivers was high on the radar last week as well, in what turned out to be a shoot out with the Chiefs. Rivers ending up throwing for 424 yards and connecting on three TD’s. He posted these monster numbers at home, and now the Chargers will travel to Buffalo. While some experts have backed off of Rivers this week a bit because of the travel and the hostel road environment, I believe that last weeks performance could be matched in any stadium against Buffalo. The Bills were just overwhelmed from all angles last week, as Joe Flacco tore them apart. I expect Rivers to produce on the road here, and there is not much focus on him this week.

Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs – (36)

I had a ton of Mahomes on fantasy benches everywhere last week, and not nearly enough of him on DRAFT! I have been high on this kid since his limited action last year, and he really flashed some brilliance in his first start as the man in Kansas City last week. Speedster Tyreek Hill stole the show of course, with his 91 yard punt return for a TD early, followed shortly thereafter by a 58-yard-TD on a connection with Mahomes. Mahomes kept it going in the second half as well, against what many thought would be a stout Chargers secondary. Of course the loss of Joey Bosa was a major blow to that defense, but Mahomes may have gotten plenty done from the looks of it regardless. Mahomes hit Hill one more time in the fourth quarter for another TD, and added two more for a total of four. He was good for 28.3 DP last week, and those that him paired with Hill most likely won some cash.

NFL DRAFT DFS: RB Targets:

Saquon Barkley – New York Giants – (9)

Those that took the risk on Barkley last week were rewarded handsomely, with an 18 carry, 106 yard, one TD performance, against one of the best defenses in the NFL, in the Jacksonville Jaguars. I figured I would give it a week considering his opponent, but those that drafted Barkley and Giants teammate Odell Beckham were certainly rewarded. I don’t know what that says about the G-men moving forward, but Barkley and the boys will now go into Dallas, in what could be a “who has the better RB game.”

I think both teams will pound this out on the ground all game long, and Barkley looks like the real deal, and could be in line for that 200 yard, multi TD game really soon. When he does plant himself on the map as one of the best in the league with that monster game, I want to make sure I have a few shares of him. Well I am on board already, after a very respectable performance in week one against a good team.

James Conner – Pittsburgh Steelers – (16)

My second running back of note, is Steelers back-up James Conner, who burst on the scene last week as star LeVeon Bell failed to report to the Steelers. Not only was he forced into action, he was given a Bell-like workload, and amassed 135 yards on 31 carries with two touchdowns. This came against the stout Browns front four, and was a lot better than most expected. This week the Steelers will be at home, and will be facing a weaker Chiefs defense. Vegas expects this game to be a shoot out, and it has the highest game total of the week at 53.5. I want some exposure to both sides in this one, and Conner is making for a great late first round pick if you want to reach a bit. I see no reason why he does not receive a similar workload this week.

Adrian Peterson – Washington Redskins – (18)

Finally I get to talk about my favorite play of the week. I have no idea what it is, because I personally thought AD was done. Never thought we would hear from this dude again, and I was cool with it. I grew up a Vikings fan, and his legal drama situation he had in his time here kind of made me not like him as a human being, so I was more than happy to write him off. But I have had some bad luck lately, and my mood tells me if I fade Peterson this week I will be in trouble. Therefore, I keep drafting him in the third round and feel really good about.

He played a ton more snaps than anyone expected in his Redskins debut, and took 26 carries for 96 yards and a TD, leading to a 24-6 grind it out opening day win for the new look Skins. This week Peterson gets the Colts, who allowed Joe Mixon to have a decent day, with 95 yards on 17 carries. While the game script says to attack the Colts in the air, I think the Redskins are trying to establish an identity with the run, while Alex Smith gets comfortable in this offense.

NFL DRAFT DFS: WR/TE Targets:

Keenan Allen – Los Angeles Chargers – (6)

With an array of receivers, nine of them to be exact, Flacco was able to rip apart this defense like he was the best QB in the NFL. The Chargers also spread it out a bit, but nobody in this WR corps is targeted more than Allen. That right there actually isn’t quite true, as RB Melvin Gordon received 13 targets to Allen’s 11 last week, but other than these two, nobody else is likely to receive more than five or six. Vegas projects the Chargers offense to score around 26 points, among the highest team totals of the week. Having some exposure this week seems profitable. I love Gordon as well and am a bit torn, as I don’t like to stack a QB,RB, and WR in NFL, but this week looks like a rare exception if the opportunity presents itself.

More from FanSided

Rob Gronkowski – New England Patriots – (11)

Everyone, including myself, finally thought we had a clear looking picture of how Belichek would attack the Texans D. Hogan across the middle running short routes every which way seemed so obvious, that by Sunday, Hogan was going in the third round of my drafts, despite his super low projection. Well the only thing that was constant and possibly overlooked by some was the fact that Gronk when healthy is match-up proof, and is always Brady’s favorite target.

This is a perfect week to target him, as he has slipped to late second round, likely due to what most will view as a tough match-up with Jacksonville. We know the Pats offense is explosive, and as long as Gronk as healthy, he looks like a top five WR/TE week in and week out in the DRAFT format. This week he comes in as my fourth ranked at the position, and I would currently grab him ahead of the likes of Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins this week, both of whom have higher projections.

Stefon Diggs – Minnesota Vikings – (27)

Our last target of the week, will be Vikings star WR Stefon Diggs. In the two games against the Pack last year, Diggs scored twice, once in each game. He found paydirt last week as well in the opener against the 49ers, and looks to have a good rapport with new Vikings QB Kirk Cousins. He was only targeted six times last week, but still notched double digit DP with 12.6. If you can get a guy in the fourth round that looks very likely to be in a TD situation like Diggs is here, you always grab him if he fills your need, as the options at this point in the draft are likely thin.
