After winning a tough game last week against USC, Stanford hosts UC Davis for another non-conference tilt.
The Stanford Cardinal are 2-0 so far in their season, and last week they gutted out a good performance. The USC Trojans came to play, at least on defense, where they held Stanford to only 17 points offensively. The good news for the Cardinal is that their defense came to play as well and completely dominated USC to the tune of only three points.
After a very slow start to the season in week one, Bryce Love got things going against the Trojans, rushing for 136 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown. Those are the numbers he usually puts up, and the fans were happy to see him back in true form. However, Love is out for this week with an undisclosed injury so that means plenty of carries for Cameron Scarlett with junior Trevor Speights and Dorian Maddox backing him up.
UC Davis, who is 2-0 as well, have rolled on offense the first two weeks, putting up 44 and 54 points, respectively. However, playing Stanford will be a different animal than San Jose State and San Diego.
UC Davis will need to keep track of Bryce Love and wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside, who went off in Week 1 with three touchdown receptions. They will also deal with a defense that looks good in the early part of the season and is confident after dominating a ranked USC team last Saturday.
How to watch Stanford – UC Davis
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 15
- Time: 2 p.m.
- Location: Palo Alto, CA
- Stadium: Stanford Stadium
- Spread: No info vs. an FCS opponent
- TV info: Pac-12 Network

Prediction: Stanford will surely try to establish the ground game early with Bryce Love with a little Cameron Scarlett mixed in, which will open things up for the passing game and K.J. Costello. Look for a big game from the Heisman hopeful Love and a more explosive passing attack this time around. UC Davis has a good offense, but this game will prove too difficult for them against an FBS school.
Final Score: Stanford 34, UC Davis 10
