The Browns will likely be releasing wide receiver Josh Gordon on Monday. Here are three teams that could use his services this season.

The Cleveland Browns looked to have a once-in-a-lifetime wide receiver in Josh Gordon. He led the league with 1,646 receiving yards with nine touchdowns back in 2013. Then, his career went downhill. After multiple suspensions, and missing the 2015 and 2016 seasons, Gordon came back for the final five games of the 2017 season.

With his return, fantasy owners and football fans were excited to see him back on the field. Gordon scored his first touchdown of the season on a 17-yard jump ball.

Despite that, the Browns released a note saying the team will be releasing Gordon on Monday. Without Gordon, the Browns receiving corps features Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins and Antonio Callaway with Davd Njoku at tight end. Not bad but a downgrade without Gordon.

Gordon looks like he can still play. Here are three teams that could use Gordon’s services this season.

New England Patriots

The Patriots are known for taking trouble players and turning them into stars. With Julian Edelman missing three more games, the Patriots need to add another receiver for Tom Brady to throw to.

Phillip Dorsett led all receivers in targets. Chris Hogan was invisible. Rob Gronkowski is not always healthy. Gordon will be the outside speed receiver with Hogan opposite of him. Dorsett becomes the slot receiver until Edelman comes back.

We could be looking at a similar season to the Brady-Randy Moss season. If any team can keep Gordon on track, it will be the Patriots.

Indianapolis Colts

Outside of T.Y. Hilton, the Colts don’t have a No. 2 receiver. The tight end combination of Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron fills that role. Having Gordon as the No. 2 will help everyone on the offense.

Andrew Luck hasn’t had the best receivers to throw to since being drafted by the Colts. A one-two punch of Hilton and Gordon would be his best yet. The Colts are another organization that could help Gordon off the field as well.

Now, if the Colts can improve their running game, they could compete for an AFC South title.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys may not be the best situation personally for Gordon considering the personnel on the team. We heard what management had to do for Dez Bryant and the mandatory curfew.

Take away the personal stuff, the Cowboys offense, especially Dak Prescott, could use Gordon. The group of Allen Hurns, Cole Beasley and Terrance Williams is not good. Adding the speedy Gordon to the team and lining him up outside will put pressure on opposing secondaries.

This will also free up space for Ezekiel Elliott and the running game.

The 49ers, Seahawks and Jaguars are three other teams that could use Gordon’s skills. If you own Gordon, I would hold onto him until we find out where he’s traded to or what team he signs with. If it goes on for multiple weeks, then you have a decision to make because he’s taking up a valuable roster spot. But, you likely can’t find someone with Gordon’s skills on the waiver wire.
