Hot seat watch, Week 3: Winners (Tom Herman) and losers (Willie Taggart)
Larry Fedora: North Carolina – No change
It was known that Larry Fedora wasn’t going to have a chance to improve his spot this week. Hurricane Florence left many college football games displaced this week that will have to be made up in the future or cancelled entirely.
The North Carolina Tar Heels were set to have their home opener against UCF. It was probably a good thing that they didn’t have that game this weekend with the way they were playing leading up to it.
With two losses to begin the season and a bad one on the road at East Carolina, Fedora’s pretty much near the end of the line. He’s been around long enough that it’s probably time for a fresh face to take over a program that’s been on the wrong side of a trend downward.
If the program is able to play a home game next weekend, it will be against Pittsburgh. Having a week off could prove to be a benefit as they get a chance to get their heads right and focus on what’s next.
Fedora needs a lot of help right now and more losses piling on before his first win of the season isn’t going to help his cause. He’s not a winner or loser this week due to circumstance, but he’s still on the hot seat.
