WWE Hell in a Cell 2018 review: What we learned, takeaways, future projections

SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Becky Lynch
What we learned: It looked as if we were maybe going to learn that WWE was going to fix their mistake of Becky Lynch being the heel and Charlotte Flair being the babyface with a double turn at the end of the match, but that didn’t happen. But we did obviously learn that SmackDown Live has a new Women’s Champion as The Irish Lasskicker captured her first title in two years with a clean victory on Sunday night.
The two put on a good match with some very good storytelling throughout. There were a few sloppy spots thrown in there, but for the most part, this was a fun bout to watch. They tried to wear each other down by focusing on specific body parts to attack and they got creative with it. Lynch put the spotlight on Charlotte’s shoulder, and the apron slam and inverted hammerlock DDT were both fantastic.
The finish was done very well as Charlotte used that injured shoulder to hit a spear but Becky used the momentum to roll through to get the 1-2-3 and her second SmackDown Women’s Championship. Flair tried one last time to reconcile the friendship but Lynch blew her off, saying Charlotte wasn’t going to steal her moment, and walked out of the ring.
What’s next: This feud is nowhere near over. Charlotte Flair is obviously due her automatic rematch, and with Super Show-Down from Melbourne on Oct. 6 and WWE’s first all-women’s pay-per-view, Evolution, on Oct. 28, we’re likely going to see these two go at it for the foreseeable future — and I’ve got zero problem with that.
