The waiver wire is the most important part of any teams success in fantasy football. Week three gives us a few more options worth adding.

Primary Add: Giovani Bernard – 33% Ownership

Joe Mixon was doing everything he could to live up to his draft price, including making an interesting choice to return to a game Thursday night in which he was clearly not completely healthy. A lot of us held our breath when we heard the potential outlook for him, but thankfully it was a fairly simple procedure to move a particle that had been dislodged in his knee.

The injury should sideline him at least two weeks and that makes Bernard a must add. He’s proven to be a very capable backup and posted RB1 numbers towards the end of the season last year when Mixon was out.

The Bengals may give a few snaps to rookie Mark Walton as well, but Gio will likely be the guy. The offense seemed to build itself around a single back so if Bernard does get the same type of workload as Mixon he could be a weekly winner any time that Mixon is out. He’s far and away the top option this week and he’s not one you should think too hard about if you have the top priority or FAAB to burn. Even if you don’t need help at running back, I bet the Mixon owner would be more than happy to discuss a trade with you.
