The New York Jets lit up the world during their Week 1 victory over the Detroit Lions, as their rookie quarterback showed why he should have been the first overall pick in 2018. Sam Darnold carved the Lions defense through the air, and heading into the home opener this past weekend, expectations were at an all-time high for a Jets team that has not had a franchise quarterback since Joe Namath.

Well, the Jets came down to earth a bit this past weekend, as the Miami Dolphins came into town and ruined Darnold’s first home game as the starting quarterback in New York. However, he played well once again, although he did turn the ball over twice, but the future is bright for the Jets, who may have gotten the steal of the draft with Darnold at No. 3.

One of the issues we are seeing with this Jets team is on the offensive line, and that is where they should look to add a piece during the first round next April. They will likely be picking in the first 15 selections, and in that range, they could end up with a guy like Bobby Evans from Oklahoma, who is an absolute mauler at the position.

Evans has the feet to stay on the left side at the next level, and has been protecting guys like Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray over the past few seasons. Darnold is the Jets No. 1 asset, and he needs better protection, so going offensive tackle in the first round makes too much sense for New York to pass on a guy like Evans at No. 11.
