2019 NFL Mock Draft: Cardinals nab Ed Oliver
By Brad Weiss
Coming into the 2018 NFL season, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had never lost a start in the NFL, but all that changed in Week 1. However, Jimmy G bounced back in a big way this past weekend against the Detroit Lions, as they look to keep pace with the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West.
The NFC West is pretty top-heavy this season, as the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks look like a joke early on. That means the 49ers will have to continue their solid play if they hope to unseat the Rams, who look like a Super Bowl contender through the first two weeks of the season.
Regardless of whether or not the 49ers make the playoffs, they will likely be picking in the second-ten of the NFL Draft next April, and they need to bring in more talent at cornerback. Richard Sherman is up there in age, and adding a player like Michael Jackson from Miami (FL) would give the team a player they could really base their secondary around down the road.
Some experts regard Jackson as the best overall defender in college football, which is really saying something considering all the talent we see on a week-to-week basis. He is a guy who is going to shut down one side of the field at the next level, and the 49ers need help in the secondary.
