2019 NFL Mock Draft: Cardinals nab Ed Oliver
By Brad Weiss
The Denver Broncos have gotten out to a fast start to the season in Case Keenum’s first as the starting quarterback, and are fresh off a stellar comeback victory over the Oakland Raiders. Down 19-7 in the third quarter, Keenum led the Broncos to 13 unanswered points, beating the Raiders by the score of 20-19 in front of the Broncos home crowd.
Keenum was a solid pickup for Denver, as they really struggled at the quarterback position over the past few seasons. In Keenum, they have a proven winner, as he led the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC title game last season, and has shown the kind of leadership this team has been lacking since Peyton Manning retired.
Heading into the 2019 NFL Draft, the Broncos could be picking later in round one than expected, and they could bring in the successor to Keenum with the pick. Jarrett Stidham from Auburn has first round talent, and with young players on this offense from recent drafts, the Broncos could be building for the long-term at this point.
Denver will have to overcome Kansas City if they hope to win the AFC West, and that is going to be a tall order based on early-season returns for the Chiefs. Keenum could lead this team to a Wild Card this season, and if he does, they will be picking in the last 12 picks of the draft, where Stidham should still be waiting.
