2019 NFL Mock Draft: Cardinals nab Ed Oliver
By Brad Weiss
For the second time in two weeks, the Oakland Raiders had the lead at the half, only to see their team lose steam down the stretch. The Raiders seemed to have a perfect game plan for the Denver Broncos this past weekend, and were up 19-7 in the third quarter, but ended up losing to their AFC West rival by the score of 20-19.
In Week 1, there were plenty of questions about the offense, as Derek Carr looked skittish in the pocket. He silenced all the doubters with a historic performance on Sunday against Denver, completing 90 percent of his passes, and looking much better taking shots down the field.
The problem through the first two weeks of the season has been that the Raiders have gotten no pass rush, and you can thank the trade of Khalil Mack for that. In the 2019 NFL Draft, the Raiders will have two picks in the first round, thanks to the Mack trade, and they better improve their edge rushers with their first one.
One of the best edge rushers in this draft class is Clelin Ferrell, who has been a beast during his career with Clemson, helping them to a national title two years ago. Ferrell has the speed to get the edge, and teamed with rookie Arden Key in Oakland, he would give the Raiders two very good, very young edge rushers that they can take to Las Vegas with them.
