2019 NFL Mock Draft: Cardinals nab Ed Oliver
By Brad Weiss
The Cleveland Browns blew another chance to earn their first victory since 2016 this past Sunday, as kicker Zane Gonzalez was trotted out to kick despite having a groin injury. Gonzalez looked well out of sorts, missing extra points and field goals, and in turn, lost his job on the Browns roster.
In addition to the kicking fiasco, the Browns also made noise off the field, as they released former star wide receiver Josh Gordon. The marriage between Gordon and the Browns has been toxic for some time, and on Monday, he was traded to the New England Patriots for a draft pick.
Outside of Gordon, the Browns have Jarvis Landry and rookie Antonio Callaway at the wide receiver position, and Callaway looked good on Sunday. During the 2019 NFL Draft, they should look to bring in more talent at the position, and AJ Brown from Ole Miss is the best this draft class has to offer in terms of wideouts.
Brown is as explosive a talent at the wide receiver position we have seen in the past two drafts, and is a guy who could team well with Baker Mayfield down the road. Eventually this is going to be Mayfield’s team, and he would like nothing more than having a bunch of speedy guys on the outside that he can take shots throwing the ball to as Cleveland tries to turn their franchise around.
