Next Game: vs Kansas State

It seems unfair to penalize someone for a situation of which they had no control, but the Mountaineers’ canceled game forced most to drop leading Heisman candidate Will Grier at least one spot (ESPN has him at No. 3) in their rankings.

This week will be a huge opportunity for Grier to reestablish himself as the top quarterback and top Heisman hopeful in the nation.

Kansas State is coming to Morgantown, and normally a quarterback would want to fear a Bill Snyder defense. However, this season the Wildcats haven’t jumped out to a great start on that side of the ball, giving up an average of 390 total yards per game, and 189 passing yards.

This will be the biggest challenge Grier has faced this season, but a week of rest, an amped-up home crowd and a chance to shine against a strong Power-5 team should lead to a big game from Grier.

Look for head coach Dana Holgorsen to start running the ball early to draw the Wildcats defense into the line of scrimmage before he turns Grier’s cannon arm loose on the KSU secondary.
