College Football picks against the spread September 20-21, 2018

There are no hurricanes bearing down on the U.S. this week. We just have some scheduled pre-Saturday college football games. They aren’t just bottom feeders either. Of the four games between Thursday and Friday, two of the teams are ranked. Can they cover spreads or will the underdogs have a field day like last week?

More from College Football Odds

I haven’t completely finished with last weekend’s games yet, so my picks from last week haven’t all been tallied. That article will be up soon, but first, the picks for the four games before our football Saturday!

For those of you that are new to this, I pick every college football game every week. Not a top five. Not a top ten. All of them. Big deal, right? Lots of people make picks. Well, I do them all against the spread! I take the odds of each game and average them out at all the Vegas casinos and round to the nearest half. There will be no ties here. Ties are for the other football.

I also assign a point value based on the confidence I have in each pick. 1 means that I have little to no confidence. 5 is one I would place a decent wager on. I keep track of my record and my points back from year to year. I went 400-75 last season and ended up with 31 points in my point bank. I am aiming for 55% this year. It’s harder than it looks!

This is for entertainment purposes only! I cannot be responsible for the loss of money, possessions, spouses, or limbs because of my picks. I can’t have that on my conscious.

Without further delay, here are the early picks for week 4!

Tulsa at Temple(-6.5)(4): Did anyone see what Temple did to Maryland last week? Maryland actually beat Texas. Tulsa couldn’t quite pull it off. I like Temple by double digits at home.

Florida Atlantic at (16)Central Florida(-13.5)(2): This looks a little low. FAU is going to get things going, and they will be dangerous when they do, but they aren’t quite there yet. I also don’t see how they stop Milton and this faced paced offense. Give me UCF.

(10)Penn State(-27.5) at Illinois(1): Penn State just destroyed Kent last week. This Illinois defense has done well against the run, but has been gouged by pass plays. The good news for them is that Penn State doesn’t really pass. My initial reaction is to take Illinois at home, but last week’s thrashing of Kent by the Nittany Lions has me wavering a bit. I’ll just lower the bet. Give me the Illini.

Washington State at USC(-3.5)(5): Can I bet ten on this? Seriously? USC got scorched by Texas on long pass plays by a team that hasn’t been able to get behind defenses all year. That’s all Wazzu does! I smell blowout. USC can’t move the ball to keep the defense rested. This gets ugly.
