Impactful NFL DFS Injuries: Week 3

With extensive coverage of the National Football League and how it pertains to fantasy sports, information about NFL DFS Injuries to skill position players is easy to come by. What’s not so easy to come by is actionable fantasy information regarding injuries to non-skill position players. We’ll be exploring some of the NFL DFS Injuries and how they may help you gain an edge week to week.

Darius Slay – CB – Detroit

Darius Slay left last Sunday’s game with a concussion after colliding with Kyle Juszczyk in the third quarter. This injury is even more concerning, as he also took a shot to the head in week one, but was able to return in that game. Slay has yet to practice this week, and seems doubtful to play on Sunday night.

Actionable Takeaway: Slay is an elite shut down corner when healthy, and is one of the only bright spots in a struggling Lions’ defense. If he’s unable to go, I would expect Tom Brady to pick this defense apart, through the air. Choosing the correct Patriots pass catcher could be difficult, but I’ll be loading up on shares of Brady on Sunday night.

Andy Levitre – G – Atlanta

The Falcons were forced to place left guard, Andy Levitre, on season ending IR, with a triceps injury this week. While Levitre isn’t necessarily a standout for the Falcons, it is still a noteworthy loss, as they’ll be forced to go with Wes Schweitzer up front.

Actionable Takeaway: With Devanta Freeman being far from 100% healthy, running the ball will become even tougher for the Falcons. I expect the Saints’ defensive to see some progression in this spot, and for the Atlanta offense to sputter at home.

Billy Price – C – Cincinnati

Cincinnati will be without their starting center, Billy Price, for two weeks with a foot injury. He was seen in a walking boot and backup Trey Hopkins is expected to fill his spot this week.

Actionable Takeaway: This Cincinnati team has gotten off to a good start, going 2-0 to start the season. However, losing their starting center and running back, Joe Mixon, will be a tough hurdle to overcome. I do think Giovanni Bernard could see success against the Carolina run defense, but I don’t think we’ll see the explosive offense of the Bengals on display this week.

Jon Halapio – C – Giants

The last thing that this Giants offense needed was an injury to their offensive line. In last Sunday’s game with the Cowboys, Jon Halapio was carted off with a leg injury. He suffered a broken ankle and will be out for the season. John Greco replaced Halapio on Sunday and should see the start this week.

Actionable Takeaway: Halapio had a decent start to the season, grading out as the 10th best center, out of 33 qualifying centers. The change to Greco will undoubtedly be a drop off, and will not do this battered offensive line any favors. I’ll be staying far away from this Giants offense for the foreseeable the future.
