2. Bet on the Rams -6.5 over the Chargers

The battle for Los Angeles may feature a fair amount of points, but we don’t have any doubts about which team is going to score more of them. The Rams have far too many weapons for a suddenly mediocre Chargers defense.

There’s something always sadistic about the way Sean McVay’s offense functions. For the record, we absolutely mean that as a compliment. This group finds an opposing defense’s weakest point and exposes it constantly. The Rams don’t stop scoring points until the final whistle blows.

The Chargers aren’t going to enjoy life when they have the football either. Philip Rivers should be having nightmares about all of the skill the Rams defense is going to put out on the field. Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters might be the most talented duo of corners in the NFL. Their coverage ability will turn the Rams’ defensive line loose to rush Rivers at will.

This game has the potential to get out of hand. It’s hard to imagine the Chargers stopping Todd Gurley from running the football consistently. Once he gets going, it allows Jared Goff to make big time plays down the field via play action. The end result here should be a comfortable Rams victory. Feel great about taking them to cover, and tease the line towards a blowout if you really want to try to cash in on McVay’s genius.
