Week 2 helped bring some more clarity to the top and bottom of the league, so in Week 3, which teams need to win the most?
Last week, several candidates failed to come up with a victory when they needed it the most. The best example of this was the Pittsburgh Steelers, who could have benefited mightily from a victory against the Chiefs.
The Oakland Raiders faltered after having victory in their grasps, and the Green Bay Packers choked down the stretch leading to a tie with their divisional rival Minnesota Vikings. Only the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints emerged victorious after being on last week’s “must-win” list.
In Week 3, several team have huge matchups that will have major implications on their season. Let’s kick it off with an 0-2 AFC South team that had his aspirations coming into the year, but have yet to live up to their expectations.
5. Houston Texans
Last season, rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson set the league on fire before tearing his ACL. As a result of his incredible play, many people pegged the Texans as a playoff contender in 2018 with a healthy Watson and J.J. Watt returning. However, it has not looked like playoffs are a realistic goal thus far for the Texans.
Watson and company struggled in Week 1 against the Patriots, and then lost to a somewhat hapless Titans team in Week 2. Faltering through the first two weeks is not an uncommon event for teams, but with the high expectations coming into the season, the Texans have been one of the more disappointing teams across the league.
A Week 3 game at home against one of the worst teams in the league, the New York Giants, provides the Texans with a reset button. If they are able to defeat the Giants, a 1-2 record is much easier to recover from in comparison to an 0-3 record.
