5 bold Premier League predictions: Walcott scores on Arsenal return
It’s time for matchweek 6 of the Premier League. There are plenty of exciting games to watch. Here are five bold predictions for all the action.
The Premier League season is getting into full flow now with each team having played five games, giving coaches the opportunity to fully understand their best formation and players the chance to get in sync with each other.
This week there are some great games on show, including Everton’s trip to Arsenal which sees Theo Walcott return to the Emirates, a rejuvenated West Ham host Chelsea, while Tottenham look to end their poor run of form away at Brighton. Here are five bold predictions for all the action.
1. Theo Walcott scores on Emirates return
On Sunday, Everton forward Theo Walcott will return to face his old team at the Emirates. Walcott spent 12 years at Arsenal after signing with the club from Southampton at the age of 16. He went on to score more than 100 goals for the London club before his transfer to Everton in January.
Walcott is sure to receive a good reception at the Emirates, with Arsenal fans understanding of his service to the club but also of his desire to get regular game time — something he’s getting at Everton.
This fixture looks like it only has one real outcome, an Arsenal victory. The Gunners have found their form with three wins from their last three matches and it’s hard to see this run being stopped by Everton.
The Toffees started the season with promise but were made to look very ordinary against West Ham last weekend. Marco Silva will want to get his team back on track and he might rely on experienced players like Walcott to lead younger members of the squad.
The former Arsenal man will be desperate to get a goal against his old club and it’s not unthinkable that that could happen, especially considering the Gunners’ defense is yet to keep a clean sheet.
Unai Emery’s side may not be totally rested either because of their involvement in the Europa League. This should make for an entertaining match in which Walcott finds the back of the net at the Emirates once more.
