3. Murray scores as Brighton further Tottenhamās woes
Tottenham started the Premier League season so brightly, but right now theyāre in the midst of a mini-slump. Mauricio Pochettino has lost three games in a row for the first time as Spurs manager and, unsurprisingly, his side are coming under a lot of criticism.
That criticism has been warranted, but Spursā loss to Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday was probably not as bad as it looked. Pochettinoās side were the better team for 80 minutes and were undone by an unbelievable goal from Mauro Icardi and some of their own sloppy defending.
However, if Icardi hadnāt stepped up with a one-in-a-hundred strike, then Tottenham probably would have taken three points back to London and the side would have been hailed for their fantastic defensive performance away from home.
Now theyāre under pressure to get a result away to Brighton which may not sound like too much to ask. Brighton, however, showed their resilience on Monday night as they snatchedĀ a point away to Southampton.
At home theyāve already beaten Manchester United, which shows Tottenham that this wonāt be an easy match. The Seagullsā man in form right now is Glenn Murray. The seasoned striker is enjoying a good run of games and is sitting joint-second in the league scorers chart with four goals.
Expect Murray and the rest of the Brighton side to be full of confidence and test a Spurs defense that is looking uncharacteristically shaky at the moment. Tottenham may turn it around but a Murray goal and Brighton win is looking like the more appealing option right now.
