Aaron Jones out gains Jamal Williams for the Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers ground attack is currently ranked 25th in the NFL averaging less than 85 rushing yards per game. They just haven’t been able to find any consistency on the ground which has put more pressure on Aaron Rodgers.

Jamal Williams has seen most of the carries but is averaging only 3.4 yards per rush. That number doesn’t help move the chains and typically puts the Packers behind the sticks.

This week the Packers get Aaron Jones back from suspension and could use him to ignite the running game. Jones is a more explosive runner than Williams providing that big-play threat. Last year Jones averaged five yards per attempt.

Green Bay needs to get their running game going in order to help their ailing quarterback. Rodgers is still working his way through a knee injury he suffered in Week 1.

Establishing a running game would lighten Rodgers workload and help keep the defense from pinning their ears back and rushing the quarterback. The Packers offensive line has already allowed eight sacks through two games.

Williams and Ty Montgomery will remain in the mix for Green Bay. Montgomery is the team’s best pass catching back while Williams is an elite pass protector. However, Jones could make his mark as the go-to early down back.
