Fantasy Football Rankings Breakdown, Week 3
It’s that time of the week when we dive into the Fantasy Football Rankings for Week 3 and try to figure out who we should be playing this week!
One of the harder things to do in fantasy football is trying to get everyone in the exact order they should be as far as who scores the most points. As always, there will be adjustments through the weekend and you’ll want to make sure you’re rolling me on Twitter @bucn4life to keep up on updates and changes. Also, these are just my personal Fantasy Football Rankings and not a staff consensus. Let’s get into it and figure out where we want to go this week!
Quarterback Ranks, Week 3
1. Patrick Mahomes, Vs San Francisco 49ers – You tell him he’s not the QB1 in a good matchup at home
2. Tom Brady, at Detroit Lions
3. Drew Brees, at Atlanta Falcons
4. Ben Roethlisberger, at Tampa Bay Buccaneers – He’s going to have to throw in this shootout
5. Aaron Rodgers, at Washington Redskins
6. Matt Ryan, vs New Orleans Saints
7. Ryan Fitzpatrick, vs Pittsburgh Steelers – Did you see the Steelers defense last week?
8. Kirk Cousins, vs Buffalo Bills
9. Cam Newton, vs Cincinnati Bengals
10. Matthew Stafford, vs New England Patriots
11. Jimmy Garoppolo, at Kansas City Chiefs
12. Deshaun Watson, vs New York Giants – As long as DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller are healthy, Watson is almost always in the top 12
13. Carson Wentz, vs Indianapolis Colts
14. Andrew Luck, at Philadelphia Eagles – Luck would take a tumble if half his offense still is injured on game day like it is right now
15. Jared Goff, vs Los Angeles Chargers
16. Blake Bortles, vs Tennessee Titans – He’ll jump higher if Leonard Fournette is out again
17. Ryan Tannehill, vs Oakland Raiders
18. Russell Wilson, vs Dallas Cowboys – This isn’t doubting Russ as much as I just don’t know how many plays we can realistically expect from Seattle this week
19. Mitchell Trubisky, at Arizona Cardinals
20. Alex Smith, vs Green Bay Packers
21. Andy Dalton, at Carolina Panthers
22. Philip Rivers, at Los Angeles Rams – This might be the lowest Rivers goes all season against that talented secondary
23. Eli Manning, at Houston Texans
24. Derek Carr, at Miami Dolphins
25. Case Keenum, at Baltimore Ravens
26. Dak Prescott, at Seattle Seahawks – This offense might have a bottom five group of skin players outside of Ezekiel Elliott
27. Joe Flacco, vs Denver Broncos
28. Sam Bradford, vs Chicago Bears
29. Marcus Mariota/Blaine Gabbert, at Jacksonville Jaguars
30. Josh Allen, at Minnesota Vikings
Running Back Ranks, Week 3
1. Alvin Kamara, at Atlanta Falcons
2. Todd Gurley, vs Los Angeles Chargers – His red zone touches are off the charts right now in addition to just being awesome
3. Kareem Hunt, vs San Francisco 49ers
4. Ezekiel Elliott, at Seattle Seahawks
5. Melvin Gordon, at Los Angeles Rams
6. Christian McCaffrey, vs Cincinnati Bengals
7. Saquon Barkley, at Houston Texans
8. Dalvin Cook, vs Buffalo Bills – Assuming he’s healthy, this should be his first big game of the year
9. Jordan Howard, at Arizona Cardinals
10. James Conner, at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
11. Tevin Coleman, vs New Orleans Saints
12. David Johnson, vs Chicago Bears – Please get him the ball in space, just a few times
13. Kenyan Drake, vs Oakland Raiders – Frank Gore scares me but it’s a great matchup
14. Chris Thompson, vs Green Bay Packers
15. Leonard Fournette, vs Tennessee Titans
16. Lamar Miller, vs New York Giants – Volume is king in a solid offense
17. Gio Bernard, at Carolina Panthers
18. Matt Breida, at Kansas City Chiefs
19. Marshawn Lynch, at Miami Dolphins
20. Corey Clement, vs Indianapolis Colts – Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles are both likely out, leaving the bulk of the work to Clement
21. Alex Collins, vs Denver Broncos
22. Rex Burkhead, at Detroit Lions – I might not know how to gauge the Patriot backfield, but the Lions haven’t stopped anyone on the ground
23. Dion Lewis, at Jacksonville Jaguars
24. Theo Riddick, vs New England Patriots – It’s hard to imagine the Lions not needing to play catch-up here
25. Austin Ekeler, at Los Angeles Rams – He and Gordon might see a ton of targets considering the secondary the Chargers are up against
26. Latavius Murray, vs Buffalo Bills – Even if Cook is in and running well, Murray is sneaky this week. If Cook is out, Murray might be near the top 12
27. Phillip Lindsay, at Baltimore Ravens
28. Sony Michel, at Detroit Lions
29. Buck Allen, vs Denver Broncos
30. Adrian Peterson, vs Green Bay Packers – You’re kind of hoping he gets the touchdowns but this are of running back is tough, to be sure
31. Peyton Barber, vs Pittsburgh Steelers
32. LeSean McCoy, at Minnesota Vikings – Even if he was healthy, he wouldn’t be much higher than right about here
33. Kerryon Johnson, vs New England Patriots
34. Royce Freeman, at Baltimore Ravens – If he scores, you’re happy. If not, it could be ugly
35. Chris Carson, vs Dallas Cowboys
36. Nyheim Hines, at Philadelphia Eagles – Indy likely won’t be able to run on Philly, leading to a lot of throws from Andrew Luck
37. Rashaad Penny, vs Dallas Cowboys – If Chris Carson has to play special teams again, Penny could be around top 30
38. Jamaal Williams, at Washington Redskins – Coach Mike McCarthy says he’s still first in line but it’s hard to buy that
39. T.J. Yeldon, vs Tennessee Titans – Corey Grant slides into this spot if Yeldon is out
40. Frank Gore, vs Oakland Raiders
Wide Receiver Ranks, Week 3
1. Antonio Brown, at Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The drama is maddening but expect AB to show up in primetime
2. Michael Thomas, at Atlanta Falcons
3. Julio Jones, vs New Orleans Saints – It seems like the injury is just par for the course for Julio
4. Mike Evans, vs Pittsburgh Steelers
5. Tyreek Hill, vs San Francisco 49ers – I don’t think Richard Sherman is as good as he used to be but the 49ers possibly being without him doesn’t hurt
6. DeAndre Hopkins, vs New York Giants
7. Adam Thielen, vs Buffalo Bills
8. Odell Beckham Jr., at Houston Texans
9. A.J. Green, at Carolina Panthers
10. Davante Adams, at Washington Redskins
11. Stefon Diggs, vs Buffalo Bills – I would think he sees the most of Tre’Davious White but Diggs can get it done against any corner in football
12. JuJu Smith-Schuster, at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
13. Keenan Allen, at Los Angeles Rams – Allen won’t be outside the top 10 very often this season
14. Nelson Agholor, vs Indianapolis Colts
15. T.Y. Hilton, at Philadelphia Eagles
16. Brandin Cooks, vs Los Angeles Chargers
17. Golden Tate, vs New England Patriots
18. Emmanuel Sanders, at Baltimore Ravens
19. DeSean Jackson, vs Pittsburgh Steelers – I don’t love chasing so few targets but the Steelers defense is struggling something fierce right now
20. Marvin Jones, vs New England Patriots
21. Larry Fitzgerald, vs Chicago Bears – Josh Rosen might not be too far behind the rest of the rookie quarterbacks that are on the field
22. Allen Robinson, at Arizona Cardinals
23. Demaryius Thomas, at Baltimore Ravens
24. Chris Hogan, at Detroit Lions
25. Kenny Golladay, vs New England Patriots
26. Amari Cooper, at Miami Dolphins – The next week I get Cooper right might be the first
27. Cooper Kupp, vs Los Angeles Chargers
28. Keelan Cole, vs Tennessee Titans
29. Sammy Watkins, vs San Francisco 49ers
30. Chris Godwin, vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Everyone in the pool for the Bucs this week in the receiving game
31. Pierre Garcon, at Kansas City Chiefs
32. Kenny Stills, vs Oakland Raiders – His usage was beyond exasperating last week
33. Robert Woods, vs Los Angeles Chargers
34. Randall Cobb, at Washington Redskins
35. Will Fuller, vs New York Giants – He can’t keep up his insane rates with Deshaun Watson indefinitely, right?
37. Josh Gordon, at Detroit Lions
38. Geronimo Allison, at Washington Redskins
39. John Brown, vs Denver Broncos – I might regret having him this low but Denver’s secondary is a good unit, even if they haven’t shown their normal dominance yet
40. Tyler Lockett, vs Dallas Cowboys
Tight End Ranks, Week 3
1. Zach Ertz, vs Indianapolis Colts
2. Rob Gronkowski, at Detroit Lions – If Gronk’s ankle injury that popped up yesterday isn’t a concern, he’s still number one for me
3 . Travis Kelce, vs San Francisco 49ers
4. George Kittle, at Kansas City Chiefs – Kittle won’t let me down two weeks in a row
5. Jimmy Graham, at Washignton Redskins
6. Evan Engram, at Houston Texans
7. Jordan Reed, vs Green Bay Packers
8. O.J. Howard, vs Pittsburgh Steelers – Can you tell I like the Tampa passing game yet?
9. Kyle Rudolph, vs Buffalo Bills
10. Trey Burton, at Arizona Cardinals
11. Jesse James, at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
12. Jack Doyle, at Philadelphia Eagles – The volume should be there but Eric Ebron has annoyed for two straight weeks now
13. Jared Cook, at Miami Dolphins
14. Austin Hooper, vs New Orleans Saints
15. Eric Ebron, at Philadelphia Eagles
16. Austin Seferian-Jenkins – We’re into the range of tight ends that it’s basically impossible to gauge and a touchdown swings everything out of whack
17. Ian Thomas, vs Cincinnati Bengals
18. Benjamin Watson, at Atlanta Falcons
19. Tyler Eifert, at Carolina Panthers
20. Will Dissly, vs Dallas Cowboys
D/ST Ranks, Week 3
1. Minnesota Vikings, vs Buffalo Bills – They should eat Josh Allen’s lunch
2. Jacksonville Jaguars, vs Tennessee Titans – Blaine Gabbert might be starting and that’s not a good mix for the Titans

4. Houston Texans, vs New York Giants
5. Los Angeles Rams, vs Los Angeles Chargers
6. Dallas Cowboys, at Seattle Seahawks – There might not be more than 90-100 plays in this game
7. Baltimore Ravens, vs Denver Broncos
8. Philadelphia Eagles, vs Indianpolis Colts
9. Carolina Panthers, vs Cincinnati Bengals
10. Denver Broncos, vs Baltimore Ravens – I think Denver is fine but not quite the unit we’ve known these past few seasons
11. Miami Dolphins, vs Oakland Raiders
12. Seattle Seahawks, vs Dallas Cowboys
13. Green Bay Packers, at Washington Redskins – Alex Smith likely won’t turn the ball over but they also might not score that much
14. Cincinnati Bengals, at Carolina Panthers
15. Arizona Cardinals, vs Chicago Bears
Once again, defense isn’t the easiest position to fill on the fly this week. The top end defensive units were definitely drafted and hopefully you were able to snag the Browns and start them last night. That’s a unit that I actually think might be a starter for multiple weeks this year. Best of luck in Week 3 and I’ll be on Twitter all weekend to answer anything you have!
