This Saturday we get to see the exciting triple-option attack that the Army Black Knights put out on the field every week. In what should be a high scoring game against the Oklahoma Sooners.
The Army attack is an exciting one to watch. Starting quarterback Kelvin Hopkins Jr. is a swiss army knife to opposing defenses. Hopkins has accounted for five touchdowns through three games this season both in the air and on the ground. When things aren’t working with his arm, Hopkins makes up for it with his legs.
Running back hybrid Calen Holt is also a threat in this triple option attack. Holt has a total of 213 all-purpose yards. His ability to rush for tough yardage and catch in traffic helps establish this unique offensive attack. Look for both players to make the necessary decisions to help lead their team in this tough matchup at Norman.
Oklahoma starting quarterback Kyler Murray is a swiss army knife in his own right. Murray faced a tough task replacing former star quarterback and Heisman winner Baker Mayfield. Murray has lived up to the task and then some. The Sooners haven’t shown any signs of slowing down.
Through the air thus far Murray has thrown for 863 yards and added eight scores. He added 169 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Murray is the real deal and could be the Heisman front-runner after three weeks.
Murray doesn’t stand alone as Oklahoma’s only offensive weapon. Receivers Marquise Brown and CeeDee Lamb give Murray the best duo in the Big 12. Despite the loss of Rodney Anderson to a season-ending injury, Trey Sermon filled in with 74 rushing yards on only 13 carries and a touchdown in last week’s win over Iowa State.
Saturday night will more than likely be a home run win for the Sooners. They are simply too much for Army to handle, especially at home. Look for Murray to strengthen his Heisman resume with a convincing win.
