Tottenham beat Brighton 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday, Sept. 22. Here are all the highlights from the match.

Tottenham arrested their three-game losing streak with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Brighton on Saturday, thanks to a first-half penalty from Harry Kane and a late clincher from substitute Erik Lamela.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side started brightly, but didn’t create many clear cut chances, and it was hard to see where the opening goal was going to come from until Glenn Murray handled Kieran Trippier’s free-kick in the 41st minute, leading to a penalty.

The goal didn’t really settle Spurs as they would have liked ether, as Brighton pressed more aggressively in the second half and pegged their visitors deep in their own half for a 10-minute stretch after the break.

Their best moment came in the 66th minute, when Beram Kayal played in Anthony Knockaert down the left. Knockaert’s first touch took him through on goal, but he couldn’t generate any power on his shot, which was easily saved.

That proved to be something of a turning point, as Pochettino brought on Lamela for Heung-min Son shortly after. The Argentina finished an excellent flowing move in the 76th minute to give Tottenham a two-goal lead.

This was hardly emphatic from Tottenham, and they looked shaky on set-pieces once again, but it was probably a deserved victory overall, and a much needed three points after a troubling month of results.

Brighton got one back in the third minute of second half stoppage time, Knockaert curling in a lovely finish after a nice counter-attack, but it proved to be too little to late for Chris Hughton’s side, who remain on five points.
