Clemson fans are ready for the Trevor Lawrence era to get underway.

Dabo Swinney is one of the best college football coaches in the game today. He’s definitely smarter than me and anyone watching the games from the comfort of their couches on Saturday. He’s got a national championship, I’ve built some really nice dynasties on NCAA Football. The differences between he and I are stark, but having said that, I’m smart enough to know the Clemson offense looks a lot better with Trevor Lawrence running it.

Lawrence came to Clemson as the nation’s No. 1 recruit and a 6-foot-6 quarterback with the long blonde hair that makes him look like he’s auditioning for Sunshine in the remake of Remember the Titans.

He’s also got a lot of game that is evident when he takes the field, in a backup role, to incumbent starter, Kelly Bryant.

Swinney did the right thing by keeping Bryant as the starter to begin the season and to give his prized freshman phenom the time to adjust to the speed of the college game and master the playbook. It hasn’t cost Clemson in the win column, but it’s clear through 3.5 games that Bryant just doesn’t bring the same things to the table that Lawrence does.

The offense moves up and down the field with him under center, he can make the downfield throws that Bryany can and he hasn’t let the moment get too big for him.

It’s reasons like that that has Clemson fans ready for Dabo to make the switch and start Lawrence for the rest of the season.

Just check out the reactions from Clemson fans as they watched Lawrence throw for three touchdowns in the first half at Georgia Tech.

The old saying is if you start listening to what the fans are saying, you’ll soon be sitting with the fans. But in this case, it’s clear that Lawrence is more than just the future for Clemson. He’s also the present, and with him, they have a real chance to not just win the ACC, again, but challenge Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma for the national championship.
