With just three games in the DraftKings NFL afternoon slate, finding those cheap value picks will be difficult. Here are three cheap options worth a roster spot.

The NFL Week 3 schedule is a bit unbalanced. There are 10 1:00 PM games and only three 4:00 PM games. It’s usually 9/4 or rarely 8/5. But with just three games, the DraftKings afternoon slate becomes a bit difficult to find a winning lineup. If you plan on spending on running back, you’ll need some cheaper options elsewhere.

The three games in the afternoon slate are LAR/LAC, DAL/SEA and CHI/ARI. The last game doesn’t scream fantasy points to me. Arizona can’t score a touchdown and Chicago is prone to mistakes. Maybe Jordan Howard can rush for one.

The battle of Los Angeles will see a lot of points scored. The Rams look like the best team on both sides of the ball. If they can score, then expect Philip Rivers to throw the ball 40-plus times this game. Both running games will get their fair share of carries, too.

The Dallas/Seattle game interests me. I like the Cowboys defense as a sneaky play. The Seattle offense doesn’t look that great. Then again, the Cowboys offense doesn’t either. The offense flows through Ezekiel Elliott.

With Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley and Elliott priced at $7,800 or more on DraftKings, you’ll need to save money at the other skill positions. Here are three cheap wide receiver options for the afternoon slate of games.

Mike Williams, LAC

Despite playing the No. 1 defense, the Chargers will be able to move the ball. Keenan Allen is Rivers’ No. 1 target but Williams is proving why he was drafted seventh overall in last year’s draft.

He has seven receptions on eight targets for 108 yards and a touchdown. If any pass catcher is going to score against the Rams, I will put my chips on Williams. His 6-foot-4 frame makes for a great end zone target.

Despite the rise in snaps, DraftKings still has him listed at just $4,000.

Cooper Kupp, LAR

On the opposite side, Jared Goff has a three-headed monster at wide receiver with Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks and Kupp. The first two may get more targets but Kupp has one of two touchdowns from Goff.

Kupp does have 11 receptions over the first two games but his yardage totals are low, 115 combined yards.

Kupp plays out of the slot and will likely get close to 10 targets in what is expected to be a high-scoring game. He’s priced at $5,400.

Christian Kirk, ARI

This one is a long shot. As I said earlier, I don’t expect a lot out of the Cardinals this week. The Bears defense has improved, thanks to the arrival of Khalil Mack.

However, Larry Fitzgerald is listed as questionable. Reports say he will play, but no one knows if he’ll be on the field for every snap.

I like Ricky Seals-Jones at tight end but Kirk should see an uptick in targets as well. He caught four passes for 27 yards last week.

For a team likely to be down early, Sam Bradford will have to throw to catch up. He’s the cheapest option at just $3,500.

DraftKings doesn’t seem to raise the price of wide receivers based on one game. With the matchups a possible negative against them, these wide receivers have the best chance on their respective teams to catch a few passes and a touchdown.
