Oklahoma State just defeated the ranked Boise State Broncos the week before and had momentum. Then came Texas Tech’s offense, and it sent head coach Mike Gundy’s team into a lost week, with a 41-17 loss at home.

Quarterback Taylor Cornelius only went 18-for-38 in the air for 258 yards. The inefficiency didn’t provide any favors, even with Justice Hill’s 111 yards on the ground.

The Cowboys will go on the road to face Kansas on Saturday and hope for a brighter week of football. If so, it could return them to ranked status, including the following game against Iowa State in October.

After a disappointing loss to Maryland and a close matchup against Tulsa, Texas toppled a TCU team that Ohio State poured 40 points on the week before. This time, head coach Tom Herman’s team had 31 points, due to three total touchdowns from quarterback Sam Ehlinger and quality receiving days from Collin Johnson and Lil’Jordan Humphrey.

The defense did its part, too, with three interceptions to keep TCU away from potential scoring opportunities. That created a successful day on both sides of the ball.

The Longhorns will go to Manhattan to face Kansas State in Week 5. Afterward, it’s the Red River Rivalry that may make or break everything.
