Fantasy football 2018: top 10 waiver wire Week 4 pickups
By Rob Wilson
Secondary: – Wendell Smallwood – 4.2% Ownership
The carousel of Philadelphia running backs continued this past Sunday when Wendell Smallwood dropped nearly twenty fantasy points during Jay Ajayi’s absence. A lot of people pointed to Corey Clement as the back to own and for good reason, but Smallwood sneakily played very well and made it an easy decision for Doug Pederson to continue the committee. Smallwood won’t hold a ton of value when Ajayi returns but he’s someone worth rostering for depth since the Eagles have such a strong offensive line and Pederson never commits to a single back.
The Eagles have a difficult schedule over the next six weeks but someone with Smallwood’s skill set can provide a safe floor in the passing game and performed well enough to warrant starting consideration in any games that Ajayi sits.
At this point in the year there’s a few guys that you should hold just in case they become fantasy studs come playoff time, and the first step towards that is identifying the offenses that have enough firepower to sustain more than one. Smallwood fits that mold for now, so throw a cheap bid at him and stash him at the end of your bench.
