4. North Texas Mean Green (Conference USA) 4-0

While it’s not the same as beating an SEC opponent in their building, North Texas got another impressive win in Week 4. The Mean Green went to Lynchburg, Virginia and defeated Liberty 47-7.

The Flames put up little resistance for the North Texas offense, as they moved up and down the field for 531 yards. Mason Fine threw for two touchdowns and 185 yards. Loren Easly did most of the damage, running 27 times for 177 yards and two scores. Nic Smith chipped in with a 66-yard touchdown run.

Up next: Saturday vs. Louisiana Tech.

3. BYU Cougars (Independent) 3-1

BYU played their first game against a non-Power 5 team last weekend. They handled their business as they should, disposing of McNeese 30-3.

The Cougars used a balanced offense in the game. Quarterback Tanner Mangum threw for 118 yards and a score. Lopini Katoa had two rushing touchdowns on ten carries for 64 yards. Squally Canada earned 57 yards on his ten carries. Defensively, BYU used four turnovers to hold their opponents to only three points and 207 yards of offense.

Up Next: Saturday at Washington.
