PlayStation has finally answered fans prayers for Fortnite cross-play
After a ton of pleading from the fans, it seems Sony has answered their prayers. Cross-play with Xbox and other consoles on Fortnite will now be a reality.
For some odd and selfish reason, Sony was holding off on allowing cross-platform play with other consoles on Fortnite. It was simply strange since players on PlayStation can play with PC and mobile users. The same for Xbox players with PC, Nintendo, and mobile players. However, there was an annoying barrier there between PlayStation and Xbox that was limiting Fortnite’s full potential. It doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, however. Playstation announced Wednesday morning cross-play with other consoles will be coming to the PS4 and it’s starting with Fortnite.
For those who don’t understand how monumental this really is, let’s discuss it a bit. Obviously, this is huge for Epic Games and Fortnite. The fans have been clamoring for this to happen, but it seemed Sony wasn’t going to budge. Thankfully, it’s finally happening and now, we get to see who the best players are on Fortnite. But, it’s not all about the competition in the game.
There are many players who only have PS4s, while others only have Xbox Ones or Nintendo Switchs or even PCs. Some don’t even have either of these, so they play on their mobile devices. Where players play isn’t a factor anymore since this feature will allow everyone to play together, regardless of what you use to play. Friends can play Fortnite with friends on other consoles now, which is something we never thought would happen. Maybe the console war will soon become a thing of the past.
Not only is this huge for Fortnite, but maybe this is a sign of things to come. Maybe players will be able to utilize cross-platform features for all future games. Well, this also includes factors, such as console exclusivity and whatnot.
Right now, the feature is live in beta format on Fortnite. So, if you’ve been trash talking your Xbox fanboy friend about why PS4 players are better at Fortnite than Xbox players, here’s your chance to prove it.
