No. 5 LSU looks to stay hot when hosting Ole Miss in Death Valley this weekend. Here is everything you need to know about Saturday’s game.

LSU has opened up as a 13.5 point favorite over Ole Miss, but don’t let the big line keep you from watching this game Saturday night.

Coach Ed Orgeron entered the season on the hot-seat but has since silenced the critics. The Tigers come into the game as the 5th ranked team in the nation, with big wins against Miami and Auburn early in the season. However, the Tigers have yet to face an offense as prolific as the Ole Miss team they will host on Saturday, but Coach O should have his defense ready for the challenge.

Ole Miss enters the game with a 3-1 record, with their only loss being an embarrassing 66-7 loss to Alabama. Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu and wide receiver A.J. Brown have been an impressive duo this year, but running back Scottie Phillips has emerged as an unlikely impact player for the Rebels. However, the last time they faced a great defense no one could get anything going, so look for Ole Miss to try to reverse the trend against LSU this weekend.

The SEC West has put on a show for fans all season and no one should expect anything different this weekend. Here is everything you need to know before watching Saturday’s game.

Keys to Victory

LSU – Coach Ed Orgeron is always ready to go when facing Ole Miss, after being fired by the program after three seasons in 2007. This weekend he will be tasked with slowing down a high-powered Ole Miss offense that can beat teams in a number of ways. However, the LSU defense looks ready for the challenge but must clean up the secondary to keep Ta’amu and Brown in check. The Tigers should have no problem forcing Ole Miss into playing one-dimensional if they continue to dominate the trenches and shut-down the running game like they have all season, but if they can’t stop Ta’amu after doing so, it may turn into a game where LSU can’t keep up.

Ole Miss – The Rebels must come to play defensively to upset the Tigers this weekend, which has been an ongoing issue for the team this season. Ole Miss enters the game allowing 505 yards and 36.8 points per game, which puts them outside the top-100 in both categories. With LSU having a banged up offensive line, Ole Miss needs to turn around their recent play and win the battle at the line of scrimmage. If Ole Miss can get in the backfield and disrupt the LSU offensive early and often, they should be able to put up enough point to walk away with a victory.

Prediction

Don’t expect LSU to cover the 13.5 point spread in Death Valley, but they should escape with a close victory against Ole Miss.

Final Score – LSU 31, Ole Miss 24
