With 13 games on the MLB DraftKings main slate, there are some talented pitchers you must use in your lineup regardless of their price.

The September 28 MLB DraftKings main slate features 13 games. The excluded games include the first CWS/MIN, STL/CHC and the 6:40 PM PIT/CIN games. Still, with many teams still fighting for a playoff spot, teams are rolling out their top pitchers in the final weekend. They have favorable matchups, making the price worth the potential award.

There are five pitchers priced at $10,000 or more. There are another four pitchers at $8,700 or more. If you were to use two of those pitchers, you’d spend an average of 40 percent of your DraftKings budget. That may seem like a lot but with their scoring potential and history, they are worth it.

The five pitchers over $10,000 are J.A. Happ (@BOS), Mike Clevinger (@KC), Patrick Corbin (@SD), Hyun-Jin Ryu (@SF) and Gerrit Cole (@BAL). It is interesting that all five pitchers are on the road. On the surface, Corbin and Cole are guaranteed locks. Clevinger and Ryu are in the next tier and Happ is below them just because of the Boston offense.

The sub-$10,000 pitchers include Tyler Glasnow (vs TOR), Madison Bumgarner (vs LAD), Mike Foltynewicz (vs PHI) and Kyle Freeland (vs. WSH). Glasnow has been dominant since joining Tampa Bay and the Blue Jays offense isn’t anything to shy away from. The other three face good offenses but could put up 20-plus points.

Looking at the cheaper options, I don’t see anyone with the upside like these nine pitchers. The only two with a chance are Zach Davies and Reynaldo Lopez. Davies faces a bad Detroit team and has the Milwaukee offense behind him. Lopez takes on a disappointing Minnesota team.

I would pair Corbin, in a friendly Petco Park, and Glasnow. That leaves you with $30,500, or about $3,800 left per slot. You could take the cheaper option at one or two positions to give yourself enough budget for a superstar or two.

I expect a lot of DFS players to use two of the nine pitchers. In order for you two win, you need to find the right combination and I think mine has the best chance. You could switch out Corbin for Cole but that drops your average remaining to $3,500. But the strikeouts and 99.9 percent chance at a win may be worth it.

Don’t sleep on Freeland, who is having the best season of his career. There are a lot of options for you to choose from, but whoever you pick, you’ll have to spend a pretty penny for their services. There’s a reason DraftKings prices pitchers so high. Take the guaranteed points and don’t risk it on a dart throw.
