Woman who accused Cristiano Ronaldo of rape releases new details

New details have been released regarding the rape allegations against Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo.
A year and a half after the initial report came out, new details have emerged about rape allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo. The initial report from German magazine Der Spiegel stated that a settlement was reached out of court in 2010 between Ronaldo and an anonymous American woman.
The woman has now come forward in a new article for Der Spiegel. In the piece, Kathryn Mayorga shares new details about the alleged rape and disclosed that she has filed a new civil suit in court against Ronaldo.
Mayorga, along with her family, a friend that was with her at the hotel that night and her lawyer were all interviewed for the story. Most of the story is devoted to Mayorga’s account of what occurred that night, and how it has changed her life since then.
Her lawyer also explained that he has evidence of Ronaldo admitting that Mayorga didn’t consent to sex that evening. Ronaldo’s team of lawyers conducted internal questionnaires. One of those, from December of 2009, showed Ronaldo had claimed the sex was consensual. However, an earlier questionnaire reveals that Ronaldo had said that Mayorga had repeatedly said no.
At this time, it’s hard to say what will happen next. What we do know is that Ronaldo and his team of lawyers plan to file suit against the German magazine for what they call the “blatantly illegal” report, according to Reuters. Reuters also reported that Ronaldo had previously threatened to sue after the first report came out, but never followed through. For those looking to read the full story from Der Spiegel, it is available on their site but it is in German and behind a paywall.
