We are heading into Week 6 of the college football season already, but let’s take a look at what the newest AP Top 25 could look like after Week 5.

A better slate of games awaited college football fans in Week 5 as there were plenty of potential upset contests on the docket with some ranked matchups mixed in — especially in primetime.

The days started off with one of the most shocking near-upsets of the week. Dino Babers and unbeaten Syracuse traveled to Clemson to take on the nation’s No. 3 team and nearly pulled off the upset. Syracuse held a 23-13 lead late in the game and newly-anointed starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence was injured in the first half so it was up to freshman Chase Brice to lead the comeback, and he did just that.

Texas Tech hosted West Virginia with a chance to make a statement in the Big 12, but the Mountaineers got up big early on and the Red Raiders’ late comeback effort came up just short.

The day got more interesting, setting up some big-time matchups between Ohio State and Penn State as well as Stanford and Notre Dame to pace the evening slate.

Ohio State found itself down 26-14 in the fourth quarter in Happy Valley, but Dwayne Haskins kept a level head and made all the throws late to lead the Buckeyes past the No. 9 Nittany Lions, 27-26, in yet another classic in the newfound rivalry.

Notre Dame handled Stanford in a game that didn’t exactly feel like a top-10 matchup in the second half. After being tied 14-14, the Irish went on a 24-3 run to dominate the Cardinal.
