Find out how to tune in as the NASCAR Cup Series playoff contenders tackle one of their toughest challenges of the season.

One of the cooler facets of the ROVAL at Charlotte Motor Speedway is that everyone is just sort of winging it when it comes to this brand new road course. The distance of the race and the layout have been adjusted leading up to race weekend. The tire barrier along one of the chicanes has been moved after Bubba Wallace hit it hard during practice. And while the XFINITY Series race gave everyone a blueprint for what might happen during the Bank of America ROVAL 400, no one can say for sure what will happen when NASCAR drops the green flag on Sunday afternoon.

Kurt Busch won the pole, but AJ Allmendinger, who is excellent on road courses, wasn’t far behind him. Chevrolet drivers dominated the top spots overall during qualifying, which is something you haven’t seen much this season — but then again, Chase Elliott won at Watkins Glen, so maybe the Chevys just are good on road courses.

It’s also impossible to discuss the race without talking about how it’s the cutoff race for the first round of the NASCAR Playoffs, so several drivers basically need to win or their seasons are over. Clint Bowyer and Jimmie Johnson might still be able to make the Round of 12 on points, but they’re on the outside looking in right now. Erik Jones and Denny Hamlin? Well, if they don’t end up in Victory Lane, they’re almost certainly out.
