No. 5 Phillip Lindsay vs Kansas City

Don’t let the punch sour your thoughts of Phillip Lindsay especially in this matchup. I don’t see it affecting his play all that much and though he may shed a few more carries for Royce Freeman, I like this matchup this week. Here’s why.

Lindsay is important for this offense in both the run and the pass. Add in use with special teams and you’ve got a player who could fill the stat sheet in many ways if you’re in a pinch.

Lindsay’s been a heavy workload out of the backfield before Sunday’s early exit makes Lindsay the perfect flex play if you’re sitting on him or if he’s available in your league. A starter in just 46% of ESPN leagues, this weekend might be the time to up that.

Kansas City has only mitigated the run once thus far in 2018, against Pittsburgh, but struggled against the Chargers and last week against the 49ers. San Francisco posted a balanced rush front that had 25 carries for 157 yards and a touchdown. The Broncos post a similar front that could see Lindsay come up big near the goal line.
