The magic at Kentucky just continues to roll along. Make no mistake about it, this is a good football team. They have a physical defense that can make life difficult for opposing offenses and they can pound you with Benny Snell when they have the ball. They get moved up one spot this week for another dominating SEC win.
The secondary deserves credit for this win. The three interceptions will get all the headlines, but they made it difficult for South Carolina to complete any sort of passes on a regular basis. If Mark Stoopsā defensive backs continue to play this well, they can beat anyone in the country.
Ed Orgeronās team continues to occupy the No. 3 spot on this list, but the gulf between the Tigers and the top two spots is pretty wide. LSU handled their business against a bad Ole Miss team at home, but they didnāt look great doing it.
Joe Burrow, however, was electric in this one. He threw for 292 yards and ran for 96 more against a porous Rebelsā defense. Curiously, Nick Brossette was bottled up in this game. Thatās something the Tigers need to work on moving forward.
Georgia is so much more talented than Tennessee that they managed to score when their own quarterback gave up a strip sack. It was just that sort of day for the Bulldogs.
Kirby Smart has an embarrassment of riches in terms of talent. He was easily able to trot out three running backs and two quarterbacks in an easy victory over their SEC rivals. They may not beat Alabama, but they look like the SECās best hope.
Alabamaās victory over Louisiana was over almost as soon as it started. The final score was no indication on just how one-sided the game was. Alabama could have won this by 100 if Nick Saban felt like it.
A subtle storyline from this weekendās win is that Jalen Hurts played his fifth game of the season. In other words, he canāt redshirt any longer. Alabama will not face a Kelly Bryant-like situation with their backup quarterback. Hurts is going to stay all season long. Itās not like the Crimson Tide needed more good news, but they got some anyway.
