All you need to know following a weekend that saw wins for Roma, Borussia Dortmund and PSG, and points dropped by Bayern, Barca and Real.

It was a weekend of frustration for several top European sides as they failed to capitalise on each other slipping up, but PSG and Juventus were able to maintain their 100 per cent records.

La Liga leaders stall

The big game of the weekend was the Madrid derby between Real and Atletico, but that game ended goalless in a disappointing encounter.

Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio both missed chances for Real but Julen Lopetegui’s side have now failed to score in two consecutive matches — on Wednesday, they lost 3-0 at Sevilla.

Elsewhere at the top, Barcelona could only draw with Athletic Bilbao. Oscar de Marcos’ goal just before halftime looked like Bilbao had found a rare victory at the Camp Nou, before Munir’s late equaliser salvaged a point for the hosts.

Real Betis won 1-0 against Leganes, Levante won against Deportivo Alaves by two goals to one and Sevilla won 3-1 at Eibar.

Roma win derby

Juventus moved six points clear of closest challengers Napoli by beating them 3-1 at the Allianz Stadium thanks to a brace from Mario Mandzukic and another from Leonardo Bonucci.

In the Rome derby, despite the form of the two sides, Lazio were beaten 3-1 by Roma with young winger Lorenzo Pellegrini the standout player on the pitch for the home team.

Lazio had begun the season in much better fashion, but they now find themselves just a point ahead of their rivals after seven games.

Inter beat Cagliari 2-0 while Torino won their second match of the season 1-0 at bottom-placed Chievo Verona.

AC Milan’s 4-1 win away at Sassuolo was the biggest win of the weekend in Italy, with Suso scoring twice and being heavily influential.

PSG win again

Like Juve, PSG are top of their league having won every one of their matches to date. In France, eight games have been played, and PSG have scored 27 goals.

Three of those goals came against Nice this weekend as they ran out comfortable victors. Neymar scored two — one an exceptional long-range strike — with Christopher Nkunku grabbing the other. Nice’s Wylan Cyprien was sent off for two bookable offences after an hour.

On Friday, Monaco were beaten 2-0 by Saint-Etienne, before on Sunday, Lyon were frustrated at home to Nantes as they could only draw 1-1.

Sunday saw Lille hammer Marseille 3-0 — a scoreline slightly exaggerated by two late strikes from Jonathan Bamba — while Montpellier beat Nimes by the same score.

Bayern lose top spot

Borussia Dortmund are top of the Bundesliga having capitalised on Bayern Munich’s shock defeat against Hertha Berlin by winning 4-2 away at Bayer Leverkusen.

Dortmund were 2-0 down at the break but four second-half goals from Jacob Bruun Larsen, Marco Reus and Paco Alcacer (two) turned the game around. Jadon Sancho is in fine form with five assists in six substitute appearances for Dortmund this season, including assisting Reus here.

Only six games have been played in Germany, but Niko Kovac’s Bayern would have expected to be top at this point — they just could not find a way past goalkeeper Thomas Kraft in the German capital despite having 25 shots to Hertha’s six.

Both matches on Sunday finished 4-1 to the home side as Eintracht Frankfurt and Augsburg beat Hannover and Freiburg respectively.

In the Julian Nagelsman derby between Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig (the team he coaches now against the team he will manage next season), it was his team next season, Leipzig, who emerged as winners.

That game finished 2-1 with Yussuf Poulsen’s 73rd-minute strike proving the difference.
