CSKA Moscow face Real Madrid at VEB Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Real Madrid started their Champions League title defense for the third straight season with a 3-0 win against Roma. The Spanish giants travel to Russia for the second game of the group stage to play CSKA Moscow at VEB Arena. CSKA opened their Champions League with a 2-2 against Czech side Viktoria Plzen.

After a slow start to the Russian, that saw CSKA pick up only two points in their first three games, Viktor Goncharenko’s team have played much better. Over their last six games, CSKA picked up 14 points and kept four clean sheets. Striker Fedor Chalov has caught fire during CSKA’s recent run, scoring seven goals over the last six games. CSKA’s defense and keeper Igor Akinfeev will be tested by Madrid’s offensive firepower. If the Russian side are able to prevent Real from getting chances inside of the box, they could steal a point.

Real Madrid easily beat Roma in their opening game. The defending champions can take a commanding lead in the group with a win Tuesday against CSKA. However, Julen Lopetegui’s side have struggled in their recent games, losing to Sevilla and settling for a scoreless draw against Atletico Madrid. The recent slump can partially be attributed to injuries. Isco and Marcelo will both miss the next few weeks with injuries. While Gareth Bale’s status for Tuesday’s game is up in the air. The Welsh winger has scored four goals this season but a recurring ankle injury could prevent him from playing. If Bale is unable to play, Karim Benzema will play a bigger role against CSKA while Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez will start on the wing.
