Fantasy Football, Week 5: Best lineup with start/sit advice
By Dylan Broady
We enter Week 5 of the NFL season with a lot of questions and concerns. Here’s who you should start and sit in fantasy this week.
Week 4 taught us some valuable lessons and some of those lessons have showed us more insight than the week before. We saw the Chicago offense and defense come together as one unit for the first time en route to a huge win against Tampa Bay. We now know that Tampa has run out of Fitzmagic as Jameis Winston took back his starting role.
Going back to game one we saw Minnesota and Los Angeles light up Thursday Night Football. Both offenses were clicking on all cylinders. Both teams combined for over 1,000 total yards. Indianapolis and Houston had their own barn burner at the House that Peyton Built with a final score of 37-34.
New York vs New Orleans was supposed to be a high scoring affair. The Saints defense decided to show up and held the Giants to 299 total yards. The Dallas Cowboys finally showed up on all sides of the ball as Ezekiel Elliott had a career day, racking up 240 total yards from scrimmage.
So without further ado this is the best lineup for Week 5 of your fantasy season.
CAM NEWTON, CAROLINA PANTHERS
Cam Newton and his high powered rushing offense enter Week 5 with the perfect matchup against the New York football Giants as they are ranked 29th against the rush. They allowed Alvin Kamara to rush for 134 yards and three touchdowns on 19 attempts in Week 4.
Cam Newton ranks second in rushing yards with 136, along with three rushing scores which is best among quarterbacks thus far. Newton also boasts the most rushing yards per game amongst quarterbacks with 45.3. Fully expect Newton to have a big game on the ground Week 5 against the Giants’ sub-par rush defense.
Let’s recap Carolina’s win against Cincinnati in Week 3 so we can further evaluate their upcoming performance in Week 5. As we all know Carolina along with Washington had bye weeks in Week 4.
Cam went 15-of-24 adding 150 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, along with 10 rushing attempts for 36 yards and two rushing scores. With the addition of Christian McCaffrey’s abilities to not only catch out of the backfield but also rush for 271 total yards on 46 carries thus far this season. The Carolina offense with pound the rock against New York in Week 5.
This group will build upon its early-season success against a Giants team that has given up a total of 364.8 yards per game, along with 228.8 passing yards and 126 rushing yards and 23.8 total points through four games in 2018.
Prediction: 220 passing yards, 55 rushing yards, 3 total touchdowns
