NFL quarterback rankings, Week 5: Mitchell Trubisky dominates
Warren Moon Division
8. Russell Wilson (LW: 5)
Wilson has to be looking around and wondering where everybody went. After losing tight end Will Dissly to a torn patella tendon, the Seahawks are about to start pulling fans from the stands and handing out a uniform. Still, somehow, Wilson has seven touchdown passes for the underwhelming team in the Pacific Northwest.
7. Matt Ryan (LW: 10)
If the Falcons didn’t lose most of their defensive firepower to injury, you would be looking at the quarterback of the NFC favorites alongside the Rams. Instead, everyone got hurt, and Ryan’s great season is going to waste. Through four games, the former MVP has 1,316 yards on a whopping 9.08 yards per attempt with 10 touchdowns and only two thefts.
6. Jared Goff (LW: 8)
Goff is starting to look every bit the No. 1 overall pick he was a few years ago. Long branded a system quarterback under Sean McVay, the California kid is beginning to blossom into a superstar, shown by his 462 yards and five touchdowns against the Vikings on Thursday night. To this point, Goff is second in passing yardage (1,406) and touchdowns (11) while ranking second in yards per attempt (10.49).
5. Philip Rivers (LW: 3)
Rivers started in ugly fashion against the 49ers, throwing a pick-six to Dante Exum in the first quarter. After that, though, Rivers was nearly flawless in the come-from-behind 29-27 win. Los Angeles has its share of issues, but Rivers has played tremendous football with 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns compared to only two interceptions.
